History of the 1965 Shelby Cobra

Shelby American wasfounded by Carroll Shelby in 1962 to build and market high performance partsand modified cars for individuals. Some of the automobiles produced by ShelbyAmerican were the Ford Mustang-based Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500. ShelbyAmerican also installed the engines of US-market examples of the legendary ACCobra which was an AC Ace with a Ford V8.

Unique Motorcars isa family owned business who's experience with Kit Cars began in Phoenix,Arizona in 1976. At that time they were operating as Antique Car RestorationCenter. They were the exclusive restoration company for the Grand Old CarsMuseum in Scottsdale, Arizona. They assembled Intermeccanica Porsche SpeedsterReplicas and Auburn Boat tail Speedsters until they purchased Unique Motorcarsin 1979. This is when they started to manufacture Cobra* Replicas. They completelyredesigned the body molds, eliminated excessive mold seams, and re-tooled forincreased production quality. The frame was also improved and lightened.
