Popular Muscle Cars of the 1970s

Classic Cars for Sale

For muscle car enthusiasts, the sixties and seventies were the glory days. In the sixties, we saw the introduction of muscle cars and the seventies brought us some of the most beefy and beautiful cars to date. At Vanguard Motor Sales, we enjoy meeting car aficionados and discussing the muscle cars that stole their hearts. When it comes to the seventies, there were 5 muscle cars that won the admiration of all those who glanced upon their beauty.

1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible - While there were only few produced, they were extremely desirable. Boasting 425 HP and a V8, these cars were symbols of style.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS - The big-block V8 that Chevy powered this beast with had a quintessential throaty sound when the driver hit the gas. When you drive this car, everyone knows you're coming.

1973 De Tomaso Pantera - Combining American muscle power and Italian engineering, this 351 cubic-inch V8 provided 330 HP and a much sleeker design than traditional muscle cars. These cars looked more like luxury sport cars today than traditional muscle cars.

1970-1971 Ford Torino - These beauties were typically equipped with 360 HP and were built on the same chassis as earlier Toninos and Cyclones, but Ford really ramped up the interior and combined performance and style.

1973 Pontiac GTO - GM introduced heavier body styles this year and made the GTO a little bulkier, but maintained performance with a standard 230 HP engine and offered a 250 HP as a special option.

At Vanguard Motor Sales, we know that those with a soft spot for muscle cars can debate which one was the best. If you are interested in owning the car you fell in love with when you were in high school, contact us and let us know what you are after. If we don’t have it in our inventory, we’ll search high and low to park your dream car in your driveway. Stop by our showroom or give us a call today!
