During the 60s, Chevrolet produced one out of every 10 cars sold in the United States. Since the Super Sport treatment was often an options package instead of an actual trim code, this lead to many models with numbers that are very hard to prove. Not surprisingly, when we drive a Chevy SS into our showroom, the first question we usually get is; “Do you know if it’s a real SS?”
Fortunately with cars like this 1967 Chevelle SS 396, which were coded from the factory with SS-specific cowl tags and VIN numbers, our answer is, “YES”! As the recipient of a top-notch frame-off restoration, this ’67 Chevelle Super Sport has all the right stuff. A big block with a 4-speed makes this Chevy a highly desirable, investment grade muscle car!
This real deal SS396 Chevelle wears a straight and solid steel body. During the restoration the car was expertly detailed to provide a straight, wave free, rust free, pristine body. The gaps and panel alignment are impressive. All of the chrome and stainless is beautiful. This Chevelle is much nicer than any mass produced original car from the 1960s. It carries a super clean finish on top of a high quality restoration that is simply stunning.
Glance under the slick red hood and you’ll find the 396 cubic inch motor, which produces over 350 horse power. The original exhaust manifolds send spent gases into the Flowmaster exhaust system. The big block is covered in a traditional coat of Chevy Orange paint. What good would a killer big block be without a great chassis and suspension to back it up? Behind the thundering 396, the cars 4-speed transmission, sends power the rear end. A new clutch and pressure plate were included in the restoration. The drivetrain is held off the ground by a suspension which features front power disc brakes. The bottom of this Chevelle has been restored to the same high standards as its exterior panels and engine compartment. To complete the look, 17 inch chrome Vision Wheels and new tires were added.
During its frame-off restoration, this Chevelle SS was equipped with a great looking black vinyl interior. The front bucket and rear bench seats are in excellent shape, and the dash exhibits no fading or warping at all. In the middle of the dash, you’ll find a new AM/FM radio. Below the dash you’ll find a black console that includes a fully functioning clock in front of the Hurst shifter. At the bottom of the car, “Chevrolet” branded rubber floor mats protect like-new black carpet. And at the top of the car, a tight, fade-free headliner hangs the sun visors in front of a fully functional dome light. In front of the driver, a Blinker tachometer and a full set of new gauges keep you informed. The restored trunk features a new mat and a spare tire.
With a beautifully done frame off restoration, big block motor, 4-speed transmission and pristine interior, this real deal SS396 Chevelle is a rare, investment grade muscle car that is better than new in every way. If you’re in the market for a no excuses show piece with an unbeatable combination of style and performance, this ’67 Super Sport is your kind of car! 248-974-9513
